"In this exclusive clip, Morris grills Rumsfeld about his response to 9/11, in particular why he, along with the rest of the Bush administration, led America to believe that Saddam Hussein was somehow involved in the 9/11 attacks. “Oh, I don’t think so,” replies Rumsfeld. “It was very clear that the direct planning for 9/11 was done by Osama bin Laden’s people, al Qaeda, and in Afghanistan. I don’t think the American people were confused about that.” Then Morris provides some eye-opening evidence to the contrary.(1)"
Republican lies rarely cease to amaze me anymore; however, I was enraged to hear Don Rumsfeld lie about Saddam Hussein's involvement, or should we say lack of involvement in 9/11. Today Don Rumsfeld, an architect in making the case for the infamous bungled Iraq war, in 2003, stated he never said Iraq was responsible for 9/11, or that Saddam had any personal responsibility in the terror attacks that left nearly three thousand people dead. Then President George Bush, former Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld, and former Vice President Dick Cheney, in making the case for war with Iraq, made it clear, they "believed" at the time, Saddam Hussein, former Iraqi President Hussein had a hand in the 9/11 terror attacks.
Even though the Iraqi dictator staunchly defended himself against the accusation, the Bush Administration spent million of dollars in propaganda to push the United States into an "illegal" war.
In a February, 2003 press interview, before the war began, a reporter quoted a statement from Saddam about the allegations and said he did not have weapons of mass destruction, nor was he involved with zealous religious fundamentalist, such as Osama Bin Laden. Rumsfeld replied in not so many words, Saddam is a liar. The former Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld lied in 2003, and he is lying today, in 2014.
The 2003, United States led war in Iraq left six thousand United States soldiers dead. Not to mention, estimates upwards of a million Iraqi civilian deaths. And, the nearly thirty-four thousand injured in either training for the war, or overseas in combat.
