Pastor Steps Down After Affairs Made Public.

Pastor Bob Coy, 58, of Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale, that Coy founded in 1985. decided to abdicate his pastoral position for what he characterized as "moral failing in his life that disqualifies him from continuing his leadership role.”

He has been involved in two affairs in this year, 2014, alone. And, has reportedly long struggled with what he calls pornography addiction. No one is immune from temptation, no one. We, as people, can know the Bible front to back in Greek, but we are still susceptible to 'falling from grace.' Therefore, we cannot be puffed up and point a finger at others for falling. Now, that does not mean it is okay per say. However, it does mean that we are at war with the flesh and the spirit.

We must not take the approach of saying,
"I would never fall into that temptation." Instead,  thank God that you  are not involved in the same sin. Of course, this is not a self-righteous attitude rather  a recognition of God's grace. Because the moment, you can say what you would and would never take apart in, but you are asking for spiritual attack, in that pride in and of itself is a sinful. Men, unfortunately, sin, but we cannot stay down.

Immediately get back up and carry on with God's plan for your life. Now, this pastor's information in addition to short -comings are not just made known, but made public.

Sexual sin is a transgression that plagues the Church. Young men, and women struggle with promiscuity pornography and other related sins.
"70% of Christian men admit to struggling with pornography in their daily lives.
50% of Christian men and 20% of Christian women admitted to an addiction to pornography.
55% of pastors admitted to visiting a pornographic site.
53% of Promise Keepers' men surveyed admitted to using pornography in the last week.
57% of pastors say that addiction to pornography is the most sexually damaging issue to their congregation.
In December of 2000, the National Coalition to Protect Children and Families surveyed five Christian campuses to see how the next generation of believers was doing with sexual purity: 48% of males admitted to current pornography use; 68% of males said that they intentionally viewed a sexually explicit site at the school.(2).

As one can see, pornography is a real problem in the Church. In part because sex is looked at as an untouchable topic, that most pastors and parents do not touch on. Meaning parents do not inform their children about sexual activity except to say do not have sex and that it is a sin.

As humans, especially as kids, if parents say do not do something kids, being kids, often, try and look to see why people, predominately, Conservatives, are against sex education for students. Now, how the debate should be presented is a good conversation. But we need to teach children about sexual activity, and everything associated with it. Because like it or not, your children are hearing about sex from their friends at school. We have to take control of our children's learning and stimulate their moral character by real, honest discussions.
If you do not want your children to know about sex, fine, but someone else with devious intentions has no problem teaching them.

It goes without saying since we have implemented a more comprehensive approach to reducing teen pregnancy and abortions, it has worked. As a matter of fact, the abortion rate is at a 40 year low. Education and contraception help our society in that regard. Of course, this does not fix a moral climate of our pop-culture society, it does help us with a moral standing that is above terminating pregnancy's.

“Pastor Bob will be focusing his full attention on his personal relationship with God and with his family,” the statement said. “The governing board of the church is providing counselors and ministers who will help guide him through the process of full repentance, cleansing and restoration.(1)”
His family consists of the biggest victims. Pastor Bob's wife must be devastated and embarrassed beyond belief. First and foremost, I pray for his wife and children. And, that this ordeal would be merciful for this family and reconciliation be possible by the grace of God.
