Why is it so many Conservatives are blatant racists? I mean after all, they claim to be Christians, however, Christians do not associate race with another person in the context of discrimination.
Case and point, Melissia Harris Perry made comments about the public education system, stating:
"We have never invested as much in public education as we should have because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children: ‘Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility,’” Harris-Perry says in the ad that caused conservatives to freak out.
“We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities,” she adds.(1)."
An angry United States senate candidate, Jim Coughlin, who explains he is 'very Conservative' said, "Unless you are my wife do not call them "our" Children. Keep your stinking paws off my kid, you damned dirty ape."
Later, he claimed he did not know Ms. Perry was African American and that he was simply referring to a movie, 'Planet of the Apes.'
I do not buy for one second that, for one, he did not know she was black. And two, that it was not a racist comment. There is a clear departure from the Republican Party that once existed and it currently is unrecognizable. I feel sorry for the people who think they my must identify with a political party for religious belief.
